Ejaad-nama 0x18: Experience of learning
Ejaad-Nama (Urdu: Letters of Invention). A fortnightly newsletter about Science, Electronics, Makers, DIY, and everything technical. We talk about lemons, acid batteries, and anything in between.
Ejaad-Nama is the word from the Urdu language which means Letters of Invention. Ejaad-nama is about improving scientific literacy and normalizing it. It’s a step towards removing the barriers to learn science and develop further interest and excitement.

As I grow older I find myself often interested in subjects that I never had any interest in. Like biology. I have always been an engineering student because I hated medicine. Or it seems now I used to hate medicine.
As I grow older I find myself often watching a video of an academic lecture. A lecture that normally as a university student would work like a sleeping pill for me.
As I grow older I find myself reading a research paper or technical blog on a nice relaxing Sunday afternoon.
I attribute all of this to experience though. I think as we age we learn to process the information quickly. Quickly in a way that we have done previously. There is always some old information in the new information we learn. A pattern we have seen before. An association that we make to the learning of the past.
The concept of Life-Long Learning is defined as ongoing and voluntary learning for personal and/or professional reasons. And it seems learning becomes easier with time.
Hence, I am going to share my favorite video lectures and technical reads in the newsletter from the recent month:
Introduction to Biology: This is a video lecture series consisting of a full undergraduate semester at MIT. The lecture is scientific and philosophical at the same time and has been a great lunchtime watch.
Antenna Theory: The website is very much 1980s styled however the information it contains is very much valid today. If you are a person who knows nothing or something about antennas, it is a great resource to cover everything about the topic.
Linear Algebra for Machine Learning: During my studies, I could never figure out how I would actually use Linear Algebra. But with Machine learning almost everywhere, you might want to brush up on your linear algebra basics. The link is a very long read but compiles almost every good resource of learning Linear Algebra I know.
Digital Electronics: A high school digital electronics course. A very basic introduction into digital electronics such as a presentation about making your transistor model using Play-Doh. It’s never too late to have a good teacher in the modern world it seems.
Tear Down of XDR Display: A short video on how the new XDR backlit display works on the IPAD Pro.
Quantum Physics: Another video lecture series about Quantum Physics that explains the mysterious world of Quantum without mathematics. Woohoo
